Dating My Daughter — 10th Anniversary

A very good morning, afternoon, or evening to all of our supporters.

Today, we have a very special announcement.

As you can see from the title of this post, we are approaching the 10th anniversary of the release of our very first game, Dating My Daughter.

It’s fair to say that Dating My Daughter was the visual novel that changed my life. Over the years, it has also come to hold a very special place in the hearts and minds of many people who first discovered adult gaming through our game.

For many of you, DMD was the first game you truly fell in love with. No matter how many times we hear that from our supporters, it never stops being a special feeling.

In the Beginning

On September 26th, 2016, I was an ambitious game developer with a very simple idea.

What I couldn’t have known at the time was just how successful that idea would become.

Within the first few months, the demand for new updates and additional content was far greater than I could ever have anticipated. It was both incredibly exciting and, at times, a little overwhelming for a developer trying to do everything on his own.

After the fourth update, Day 4, I realised that I simply couldn’t continue by myself. I put out a post asking whether anyone would be interested in helping with writing scripts and/or proofreading.

That’s when HearszAM reached out.

Initially, he was only interested in helping me proofread the scripts. After a little persuasion, however, I convinced him to write a few scenes.

Those few scenes eventually became all of them!

Almost ten years later, HearszAM is still writing the scenes for all of our games.

Together, we went on to create 36 updates of Dating My Daughter across four chapters, with the final update being released at the end of 2022.

Our goal was always to release a new update every month, and during our first year, we managed to achieve exactly that. As the game grew, however, updates naturally became more demanding, and the amount of content our supporters expected continued to increase.

Even when development took longer than we had hoped, we always tried to make sure that our supporters received something that represented good value for the money they pledged to us.

And for that support, we will always be incredibly grateful.

10 Years Later

Over the past decade, we’ve completed three games — Dating My Daughter, Melody, and Sunshine Love — and we’ve been working on our current game, Thief of Hearts, for the past two years.

We still love what we do, and we’re always looking for ways to improve as game developers.

Which brings us to today’s announcement.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dating My Daughter, we will be creating a very special 10th Anniversary Edition of the game.

For many years, we’ve received countless messages from supporters asking whether we would ever consider creating a revised version of DMD.

We felt that, with the 10th anniversary approaching, now was the perfect time to do it.

And don’t worry — work on this new version will not affect the development of Thief of Hearts.

Unlike ten years ago, we now have a proper development team, which means we can manage both projects without taking resources away from Thief of Hearts.

The main goal of the Anniversary Edition is simple:

To take the original Dating My Daughter and improve it in all the ways we wish we could have done ten years ago.

Back in 2016, we were doing everything we could to release a new update for our paying supporters every single month. As a result, some updates weren’t as polished as we would have liked.

There simply wasn’t enough time — or enough people — to fix every little error or improve every scene to the standard we wanted.

Now, we have the opportunity to go back and do exactly that.

What are we planning?

           •         Create and include higher-quality renders for many of the early scenes and days of the game.

         •        Give greater focus to the F/D relationship and the harem paths.

         •        Extend and expand certain scenes wherever possible.

         •        Remove the sharing/MMF paths and other content that we feel is no longer necessary.

         •        Add a brand-new bonus image gallery, with images that you’ll have to discover and unlock for yourselves.

         •        Improve the quality of the animations and add new ones.

         •        Add music and sound effects throughout the game. Both were missing from the first few chapters of the original.

         •        Give the dialogue and scripts from the original game a fresh polish.

HearszAM has been working tirelessly over the past few months, balancing his work on Thief of Hearts with revising the dialogue for every day of DMD: Chapter 1.

He’s also already added music and sound effects to the first five days.

Over the next few weeks, leading up to the anniversary, we’ll be sharing more renders — including some of the images you’re seeing in today’s post — that will be featured in the new version.

We Want Your Input

As this is a celebration of Dating My Daughter and its 10-year history, we’d also love to hear from you.

What would you like to see included in the Anniversary Edition?

Which scenes would you like to see extended or revisited?

You’ve been part of this journey with us for almost ten years, so we’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas as we work on this special edition.

Anyway, we hope this news has brought a big smile to your faces and that you’re looking forward to playing this new version as much as we’re looking forward to presenting it to you.

Our hope is that the Anniversary Edition will bring back some wonderful memories and give you the opportunity to experience Dating My Daughter all over again — perhaps with a little nostalgia along the way.

Thank you, as always, for your incredible support over the years.

Have a great day, everyone!

We’ll have more information and previews to share with you next week.
