DMD V0.17 Release Date – Other News

Hi guys!

Sorry for the long absence. We’ve been quietly working on both DMD and the new game, and today I’d like to share with you the new release date for DMD v.017.

DMD v017 will be released on February 14th (Valentine’s Day) 🙂

Also, this week:

  • I’ll be sending my January patrons DMD CH.1 and DMD CH.2 v0.16.5, both uncensored and without the bullshit patch via email.

About DMD CH.2 v0.16.5

My original plan was to release this update in January, so that it would have given you the time to catch up with the game before v0.17. This update solves the transferring system for those players who played v0.14.5. Unfortunately, with the whole Patreon fiasco, I had to put this update on hold and couldn’t release it in time. If you have played 0.16, your old saves won’t work anymore ☹ That’s why I was planning on releasing it a few days before 0.17. But this will be the last time that you’ll encounter this error since updates from now on will consist in content only.

About DMD CH.2 v0.17

We resumed work last week and we thought it would be best to include a few more scenes that weren’t originally planned for this update. And I’m quite sure you would have enjoyed it more than the previous version that we had planned 😊. That’s the main reason for the delay. Given that after we release v0.17, we will have to focus on the new game, DMD won’t be updated for a while so I thought maybe we should include some of the content that was going to be included in v0.18

The new Game

We will start focusing our energy on the new project after we release v.17. We have some ideas already and I’d like to share them with you:

  • It will be a VN, just like DMD. A romantic, slow corruption VN.
  • You’ll play a middle-aged man who will date younger women.
  • A better story, or at least a more organized one.
  • It won’t be as long as DMD. We estimate that the game will take us a year and a half at most to complete.

I will be releasing a few previews on Patron this week, once we get the approval from their Community and Guidelines staff (they want to see that the new game doesn’t contain incest and that is not related to DMD basically, but they have taken their sweet time to review the content…)

About a dummy project:

Many people suggested me to create a dummy project: an image set or a small game to convince Patreon that I’m working on something while I focus on DMD. Unfortunately, they already told me that I can’t collect funds to support DMD, so the dummy project is a no go. In fact, I suspect they are expecting me to do exactly that to ban me. It’s too risky and I won’t take the chance.

We will play by the rules and develop a game the way they want that will also hopefully satisfy your tastes.

 

Final words:

So, that’s basically what’s happening guys. We will finish all the content we had planned for this update (v0.17), and then we’ll focus on the new game for a while.

Until the dust settles we have no other choice but to comply with Patreon and wait. We don’t want to rush the ending of the game either. Maybe a good Patreon alternative may become available in the next few months, who knows? But for now, we want to play this carefully and not make any rushed decisions that could mean the end of our games.

It’s you the fans that keep us going, and if DMD had been completed already, this new project that we’ve begun working on would’ve been the game we would have followed up with. So due to the unfortunate circumstances, we’ve started on it a lot earlier than we have previously planned! But we also hope that you will support us on our new project or at least try it out to begin with.

  1. While on patreon you had extra features such as animations and additional scenes that could be aquired by pledging more. Will everyone get these extras now and if not how would i be able to get them??

    1. Old patrons will get them via email. After that, I will post all the content on some pay-per-download website so that new people can pay $10 to get the game+extra+animation+walkthrough. That money will be used to pay for our expenses.

      3. Would it be possible to also release future updates in this manner, using some sort of pay-per-download website? I understand that this solution isn’t ideal, in that you won’t know how much money you’re going to make ahead of time in the same way that you do through Patreon, but I also can’t help but feel that it is unlikely that an ideal replacement for Patreon will ever materialize for adult games with this sort of fetish content. As a result, I’m worried that DMD might end up going on a sort of unintentional, indefinite hiatus after 0.17 is released. But by using a pay-per-download website, you’d be able to continue to collect funds for DMD’s development, independently from Patreon, and to release periodic updates, even if these updates aren’t quite as frequent as they were when it was your only project. As the old saying goes, “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good”, is what I’m trying to say here.

  2. Couldn’t you keep Patreon and just make changes to the dialogues (namely, adding the word “step-” before “daughter”) to adhere to Patreon’s new rules? And if by chance *someone* that’s *totally not you* were to make an *unofficial* patch, it’d be entirely out of your hands and so you could not be held responsible?

    1. Patreon does not allow step relations either since they fetishize incest all the same. The main point, however, is that NOTHING even remotely related to DMD is allowed on Patreon anymore. That means that, even if D was substituted with a thousand-eyed loathing monster from the outer space, the game would still be banned.

      2. I’ve been snooping around a bit and it seems like they do allow step-relations, or at least have not taken steps against it yet, which is strange considering how fast they acted against DMD. The answers I’m getting are rather inconsistent.

      3. Their entire “Crack Down On Certain Content” is inconsistent, there are still a lot of games that feature incest, beastiality, and or something else listed under their terms of service. There are still several accounts (one ranked higher than mrdots as well) that from what i can see aren’t having any trouble with the patreon staff, while still containing content they deem bad. it really seems rather bullshit to me.

    1. Hey Endless. It’s all dependant on when an ideal replacement for Patreon is made available. Thus far, there’s too many flaws with the ones we’ve checked out and ben suggested, and the payment systems being used aren’t as reliable and easy to use as Patreon’s. But we’ll keep looking!

      1. What other replacements have you investigated? Maybe if you posted a list of places that you’ve looked into and decided against, someone will see something that you haven’t looked into and suggest it. Cause, like many others, I would love to see DMD continue to get regular updates.

      2. Apologies for the late reply – Here’s a list of the sites we’ve looked into, Just to give you all an idea:

        Makersupport: Doesn’t support Paypal. It supports payments via Stripe but the country where MrDots lives in doesn’t, so he can’t withdraw the money from the platform. Also, MS is too new and currently run by a single guy, which makes him doubt about its reliability. It could be an alternative, but we might have to wait for a while until it becomes a serious platform.

        Gumroad: The worst customer service ever. MrDots was banned from the platform a few weeks ago, before the Patreon shitstorm and for something totally unrelated to porn or incest. Don’t recommend them at all! Their support treats you like shit.

        Payhip: Doesn’t look too reliable either. They only act as a middle man between the customer and the creator. They take a cut of the payment but they don’t actually handle payments. You have to put your personal Paypal address and the funds go straight to your account. Although this is good, an adult project like DMD could potentially lead to Paypal freezing his account. Too risky.

        Hatreon/Tipeee/etc.: Awful platforms. They charge a lot more commissions than Patreon and have one of the worst customer supports around. Also, most of them don’t support adult content. Hatreon is currently dead at the moment.

        Epoch: It was our best hope, they support Paypal, but they only do business with established US and Europe companies. Not an option either, I’m afraid.

        CCBill/etc.: Outrageous fees and I think they ban incest content as well.

        So yeah, if anyone can recommend a platform not listed here that you think might be useful, secure, and with a similar payment setup like Patreon, then please forward it to MrDots. Go to the “Contact” section at the top of this page to do this.

        The sooner we find an alternative to Patreon, the quicker we can look at continuing creating DMD. 😀

  4. Maybe “someone” can add lewdpatcher to the new game project to contain incest WITHOUT “you knowing about that” or talk on patreon wall. Anonymous patch will not harm anyone.
    I hope that delay it won’t be so long waiting for 0,18.

  9. Just take your time with the new game and focus on DMD, some of the current Creators take months even years to develop an update, we would support you through the new game but you would only build it up little by little while you focus on completing DMD.

    Here is another idea, what about making extra fetish content for the new game available here on this site as a free add-on or password it and give it to those that pledged for the new extra content, i am of course talking about that which Patreon has forbid.

    Oh and MakerSupport is no longer a good option, they recently updated their guidelines and now are more restrictive than Patreon.

    Shame that you cannot make a site and get donations or subscriptions through Epoch or CCbill, with the amount of Patrons you had i am sure you could easily be successful.

  10. I´m sure that you will create an excepcional game, even better than DMD, because you and you team have the experience of DMD. Your art, your dialogues will not dessapear in the new game. I´m in love of the new avatar. The only wish is a final of DMD, maybe you have to rush it a little

  11. I’m quite sad to read this new post. Because I’m not very happy that you must switch the focus on the new game. I understand that in this moment is a forced choice for you but I like DMD and I would see regular updates. Why couldn’t you release smaller updates of your new game like a lot of developer does and continue to develop DMD in a slightly longer cycle? For example 1/2 update new game 1 update DMD then 1/2 update new game in a cycle of 2 months?

  12. If I can make just one request: please don’t rush an ending for DMD. I’d rather have the game be put on hold in an incomplete state than have an unsatisfying ending rushed. I am sure a solution will present itself for DMD.

  13. To create the new game is what works for now. But focus on it to the detriment of DMD I believe is a big mistake. I’m convinced the best way to go is develop the new game at a slower pace and focus the devs team efforts on DMD. Patreon does not establishes how fast you should progress with your project.

    Take your time and do not rush anything. A rush in any case of development is not helping us nor you as the developer.
    Also like you mentioned the best is indeed to wait until the dust is settled.

  17. Idea for complying old/young game;

    “All my daughters freinds”, intergral to the story is daughter can’t find out, anything inapprotiate with her has immediate game over, and she never get rendered anything other than fully clothed, not even bikini, (maybe one piece with sarong).

    Putting daughter deep in the storyline as a ‘plot-block’ means no easy patch to upset patreon. (Pitch this point to them) Also no one could make one of the other young girls the daughter if she’s aready in the story.

    Object of game in the title, hook-up with any and all of your daughters friends (behind her back!)

      1. Not trying to be funny or smart with Patreon, trying to assure them it’s not easy to patch in some incest. Text like “I’m a orphaned single childess man” – edit, easy, banned. Nowhere near as strong as embedding an anti-fuck daughter. Have to do a bunch of new renders and re-write large chunks of the story, messing with the game play itself. Thinking further, you’d have to make sure the Patreon game daughter never appears in any other game. Obviously you couldn’t have anyone looking like the DMD daughter in the Patreon game, but I can’t see a huge problem re-using some of the other girls.

  20. Hey, MrDots. You’ve got a loyal fan in me. You mentioned uploading version 0.16 to “Payhip, Gumroad, etc.”, and that that might not last long. Are those sites censoring content along with Patreon? I don’t see the connection. In any case, if those sites DO allow you to keep content on there until at least the 2nd half of February, do you think we could see version 0.17 there too? Patreon (i.e. ongoing) funding has never been an option for me, but I can do a one-off payment this month, and then do another one after the next big DMD update (I’LL WAIT! Quality over quantity!). Would it get you into trouble posting the links to DMD on those other download sites here?

  21. Sorry to say but I signed up for DMD. I’ll be deleting my pledge but keeping an eye on the project to see if it develops into something I might like. It’s just frustrating to follow a project for so many months and then start back at square one with a new one. I’m just curious tho, what stopped you from just shifting your patreons off of patreons and set up a monthly billing system with something like ccbill or Verotel? Would of gave you creative freedom and I’m assuming most patreons would of followed you off of the patreon.

    1. That was the same i wanted to do also because i dont wanted to support patreon at the same time but after i saw the new game i pretty liked the idea of that and i want to see how it’ll be. A Teacher-Student thing is not bad at all in my opinion the probably best they can do actualy.

In my experience, the payment processors like CCBill who actually work with and/or allow adult content take a MUCH larger percentage, plus more fees/holds etc. It can typically be anywhere from 16% to 21%, especially with smaller sites. The plus side is, most of the bigger processors allow tiered memberships, so you could still have rewards based on membership level.

  23. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined, it’s like everything patreon touches turns to shit. I’m seriously heartbroken by this news, it tore me to shreds, I wish you nothing but the best and wholelot more success with this new project but unfortunately I’ll have to end my long journey here, the concept of DMD intrigued me and thats what kept me hooked throughout the years, since the future of the series is dangling I’ll have to bid adieu to this project. In near future if you see a feasible prospect to continue the story of daughter I’ll be here again 🙂

    And yes I’m forever grateful that after such a fiasco you are releasing the game. I’ll forever hold patreon as a murderer in my eyes, murderer of hopes, dreams and creativity. I will never forgive what they did is beyond cruel.

    While I understand all the ideas behind the new game and like many others will be sticking with you throughout its development, I hope you can understand my and others frustration that DMD stops at the point where it was just blossoming into the actual physical parts. We were all very excited to see how the actual sexual acts mentioned on the game description would play out in the game. Our money was sent not just in support of the development of the game, but also in anticipation of the sexual acts to come. The new game will probably get to the same point that DMD is at now, but it will take months and months.

    On top of this we had all formed a bit of a relationship with the daughter. The story was incredibly well written and had us all hooked, we loved the characters – its perhaps your biggest win with this game – this is what kept us here and made us support you. As good as the new game will be, we can’t just forget about D, E, G and all the other girls.

    I know this is not a democracy, but I would strongly vote on a continuation of the DMD development. Current pace was 1 day per month, even if this is cut down to say 1 day every three months, it would still be way way better than nothing.

    As for the money required, while I do understand Patreon’s advantage, I still don’t see what the issue is with just publishing a Paypal address where people can donate. A simple excel spreadsheet can keep track of the donations and when they reach a certain amount for example you can start development on the next day of DMD. I know that not all your Patreon supporters used PayPal, but half of them did according to your survey, that should still bring in some cash.

    I guess all I am asking – and I’m sure that many others would agree – is that we really want to see a plan to finish DMD, even if it takes a much longer time than was first thought. Something other than ‘we’ll continue when we find something better than Patreon’.

    1. they probably life now from the money they got from patreon. They probably need a monthly payment. If they apply a donation adress on their side that would be a high risk because they need trustfull supporters, that keeps the light of the studio on every month.

  25. I’m truly saddened to hear that DMD is taking a backseat for now. As I mentioned before, I was kind of “emotionally invested” in this game and was over eager for each release. I’m sorry that the gaping dickholes at Patreon have decided that being PC takes priority over creativity. Who cares if your story ruffles a few feathers? It’s your story to tell. Screw those weak minded pansies. I say start your own site, open your own paypal accounts and collect your own fees for creators! Become your OWN boss! LOL. I only partially jest.     1. Unfortunately Paypal was part of the reason why the rules and guidelines changed on Patreon, as they want nothing to do with the theme of incest, nor will they allow a game to be funded that contains incest.

      So far, an alternative payment setup similar to what Patreon has in place (with tier options, non-refundable payments etc) is not available as yet. That’s what we are really hoping will change in the very near future so we can continue working on DMD.
      But for the time being, MrDots’ new game “Melody” will be our primary focus after v17 is released next week.
      It’s the game we would’ve made anyway, after DMD was completed, but it’s just been brought forward a lot earlier than we’d hoped, due to the circumstances. We sincerely hope yourself and many others that have supported and followed MrDots in making DMD, will do the same for MELODY.

      We have great plans in place already for this storyline, and hope we can exceed everyone’s expectations for our new game.

I’m looking forward to the new game, you did a great story telling with dmd and i want this again. Looking forward for the first playable build of the new game.         Truly Demented – I’ve gone through v17 a few times in the past few days (to check for errors and bugs) and your claims to be in love with D is one certainly shared by the several fans who have played the game. Even as a writer of the game, I know deep down she will be sorely missed after this week’s release (but I believe we’re going out on a high note until DMD’s triumphant return, whenever that may be!).

        We personally don’t want to stop working on it, and it hurts that we can’t keep going especially at this point in the game. But we’ll do whatever it takes to continue on with it when the opportunity becomes available. However, there are a number of things that need to fall back into place for that to happen. So for the time being, creating “Melody” is our only option until then.

        A majority or you guys (and girls) believe that we made a great game (or VN) in DMD. And we’re using that as inspiration to go and create another one in Melody.

  27. salut, MrDots, j’ai lu que vous allez envoyer a nous patreons DMD ch1 et ch 2, non censurés et sans correctifs pour nous faire patienter pour V. 17 et pour restaurer des sauvegardes qui ne seront plus valides sur les anciennes versions, c’est très intéressant mais mon principal souci est que je doit traduire 60% des dialogues vu que je ne connais pas l’anglais ou très peu, au mois de septembre vous aviez fait un sondage pour une traduction dans d’autres langues et que pourriez traduire DMD dans les deux les plus représenter par le sondage, et je vous avoue que une traduction en français serrait la bien venue, je sais qu’avec tout ces problèmes survenus avec patreon c’est peut être beaucoup de travail mais penser vous un jour pouvoir traduire vos jeux dans plusieurs langues, parce que je vais mètre des jours a tout traduire et avec mon traducteur de poche ce n’est pas toujours simple et la traduction n’est pas parfaite, si je doit recommencer DMD depuis le début cela va être long mais j’aime tellement ce jeu. en tout les cas MERCI de finir DMD et de ne pas nous faire attendre trop longtemp. MERCI

DMD v17 will be released on February 14th, and after that, production on the game will cease until we are able to find a platform that we can move the game to (which could take several weeks or even months). The system has to be as reliable as Patreon’s and not have an issue with incest-related content.
      That’s seemingly a huge ask at the present time, but we are hopeful one will become available in the near future.

      So rather than wait for an alternative platform to present itself, we have already started work on our new game “Melody”, and the release date of the first episode of the game will be on March 23rd.
      We’re hoping that we continue to be supported by our many fans for this new game, and we are working hard to deliver you guys the same high quality content that you have received from playing DMD.
      It will be a tough challenge, but one our team are certainly looking forward to! .

  35. I am really really sorry, but if this happened, i have to say goodbye and will be no Patron again, until i will see that there are new DMD Versions. I have been patron a long time and that was a lot of money. And i dont want to pay again so much money without knowing that there will be a completed DMD Game. I am really sorry for they losts and i know they aren’t allowed to make it over patreon but they can work as devs do what they wanna do, why cant they say we will make a day every 6 Month for “free” as long as there are enough patreons/money for the other game? I am very sorry for the boys and girls dont think i am a jerk, but i am long enough in the internet to know that there are many games unfinished and to know you only have one reputation and mrdots had such a great rising on patreon and until patron shut the projekt down a very good future, so i hoped the boys and girls are doing overtime to stay at that level. Like i said, if they would announced something like a day every 6month or if the donations reaching xxx USD i would be happy to donate again, but this is a wrong step.
        And for the new game: a corruption game meh i dont like corruption when its from the male side, so i have to wait for more infos.
        DMDs Elena is better for corruption, because i know that kind of girls myself, thats something i loved on this game, not really the Dad/Daughter Part, for me she is not the blood-daughter. I know girls who wants to be a daughter, that was my interpretation all time long. But i have to say the girls are very very well written, not logical but teens arent logical.
        I hope the next game will be ok too but like i said for me it is important to do everything to finish a game and a story and i am not willing to be a patreon until there is a solution. I am sorry but for me there is no way to be a patreon after i am really disappointed.

    2. It is my understanding that Mr.Dots and his team WON’T EVER say here that you are supporting DMD through his Patreon page. Otherwise they will terminate his Patreon account. So they will be really producing a new game there. But if you want to see DMD finished, support that new game. That’s the bottom line. Until a better alternative to Patreon appears.

  37. Wondering if we will ever see an android version of dmd, game of such high quality needs it imo. Im.suppprting you on pateron but would pay extra either on here or whatever method u wanted if you could still suppprt dmd. I know you will work on game (i hope) but the android version seems less likley now and would realy love it.

    1. We’re working on it The Gonzaaa. The biggest issue with this is the animated (moving) images that are in our game, as they don’t transfer over to Android as well as they do on a PC. If anything changes with this, with either of our games, we’ll definitely let you all know.

    Is this referring to the same thing? I know the patch was made to fix the problems caused by making the game “Patreon-friendly”. Does “uncensored” refer to graphics, or does it refer to the theme of the game / the words used in the script?

      1. Yep, I just a quick little test of the latest version of Chapter 2 he sent out, and it looks like everything is back to the way it should be. You can still feel the taint of Patreon on this version, but it is still great to see the daughter be just that again, and not whatever the hell Patreon was trying to make her become. Now very much looking forward to version 0.17!

  42. The new game sounds REALLY similar to DMD. Almost too much so, to the point I fear it’ll feel like a “lite” version or loose remake. It would really help to switch up the style of game, doing slow corruption with a younger girl feels like treading the same ground and it might send patreons away. They probably don’t want to “start from scratch” with what sounds like a lesser version of the game (even if that’s an unfair comparison.) We all waited months for the relationships to develop in DMD so having to go through that again is not appealing. I’d ask you to consider hitting the ground running with the new game, do bold new things. What’s wrong with a girl who is actually sure of her feelings and likes to hook up, like a regular person? Sex doesn’t have to be the final goal post.

    1. Hi there Itpika.

      One of the main things we’ve been focussed on while creating the game and the storyline these past few week, is to make sure it’s as far away from the DMD story as possible. So far, one of a few similar things to DMD is the two main characters age difference, which even then will be what the player themselves decides for the male VN (you).

      As for the corruption, it will be faster than DMD because we only intend to make the game last for 12-16 episodes, rather than the slow-burn by comparison of DMD.

      Without trying to give too much away (I don’t want to spoil it for you all!), Melody’s character will be nothing like D.
      But like the previous game, you will still need to choose the right things in order to earn her trust, friendship, love and interest in you sexually.

      I hope I’ve given you a bit more insight for what we have in store for our new game Melody.

  44. I am sad for what has happened with patreon and paypal. DMD has been a favorite of mine ever since the first short release. I really hope that you manage to find a way to get funding for DMD and don’t just abandon it. Good luck with the new project!

  47. MrDots! Your game, DMD, is a brilliant work that is far more intreguing than I would have ever imagined upon downloading. After reaching an abrupt end to Ch2 on Day 18, I scoured the internet for answers as to why it was so short only to find no updates after February. Will the game ever be completed? If so when? What are your intentions for DMD over the summer? Please let me know!
